Kate Bullen was born in Ontario, Canada, and raised on the shores of Lake Huron. She grew up in a household with no cable and a wood-burning fireplace. Visits to metropolitan life were few and far between, and so she became enchanted by books, film, and art at a young age. She now lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts. Drawing from a vast well of cinematic and folkloric imagery, Kate seeks whimsy within the parameters of the everyday. Her work touches upon themes of identity, love, and fear.
